We all want to be fit, feel fit, look fit. Everyone is different and responds to foods and exercises differently.
How do you know what you're doing is working?
It's been said "you can only improve what you can measure" and thats why at One Life we track your workout scores and lifts in our group classes (and if you just did The Open with us we take measuring very seriously!). If you meet with a 1:1 coach at One Life you'll probably track some additional metrics like macronutrients of your meals or time spent sleeping or your body composition.
Body composition is an interesting one! If we are eating right to reduce stored fat and exercising hard to grow muscle we should expect to see these changes. However, just taking a look at ourself in the mirror everyday is not a very objective or consistent way to measure this.
Check out the InBody machine or similar machines. These machines are like fancy scales that use electricity to measure how much muscle, fat and water are in your body. This information is super helpful when you are making changes to your training program or diet. Sometimes our weight stays the same but our muscle is increasing while our fat is decreasing. As a nutrition coach, I've seen this happen almost every time in my clients when we start making changes to their diet.
This April, we will be utilizing an InBody machine as one of the requirements to our '25 Summer Shred Challenge.
